New York City police are on the hunt for two men who attacked a Burger King employee in Brooklyn last month over an apparent delay in their food order.
The men first complained that their fast food was not made fast enough before the dispute turned physical around 6.14 pm on December 4.
One of the men jumped over the counter and wrestled with the 22-year-old worker at the burger chain’s Linden Boulevard location in Brownsville, police said.
Both suspects then repeatedly punched the employee in the face, footage of the assault released by the NYPD shows.
One of the men flashed a knife during the assault, the NYPD shared to Twitter.
Two other employees rushed to the victim’s aid, prompting one of the attackers to jump back over the counter, according to The New York Post.
The two men then ran off on Powell Street.
The 22-year-old worker was treated by EMS at the scene and is expected to recover.
The footage was released shortly after the newly-inaugurated New York City Mayor Eric Adams took the subway from his Brooklyn brownstone to City Hall for his first day on the job.
Adams says he will take a tougher stance on crime than his predecessor Bill de Blasio.
Adams, 61, a former New York City police officer, began his first day on the job on Saturday by riding the subway from his Brooklyn home to City Hall. He chatted with New Yorkers and a throng of reporters following him along.
While waiting for the train, he called 911 to report a fight after witnessing two men tussling near the subway station.
Not only does Adams face the challenge of combating the significant rise in violent crime in the city, but he is tasked with pulling the city out of the pandemic.
New York has seen record numbers of Covid-19 cases in recent days, driven by the Omicron variant and holiday gatherings. The city’s schools have also found trouble following the holiday spike, as many teachers, bus drivers and other staff have called out sick with the virus, leaving many schools short-staffed.
