The King’s Head in Great Ayton was chosen out of thousands of entries including hotels, B&Bs and country houses both home and abroad with one thing in common – they are all dog friendly locations.
The Great Ayton pub was one of 12 winners in the Dog Friendly Travel Awards, they were judged based on their accessibility for four legged customers as well as their owners, and dog friendly facilities within their pub.
Described as a ‘quintessential country pub’ The King’s Head impressed the PetsPyjamas judges and received their ‘Best for Walkies’ award due to their appeal of being a perfect base for an active dog walking holiday.
Sitting at the foot of Roseberry Topping and being a stone’s throw from the North Yorkshire Moors, Cleveland Way and the picturesque North Yorkshire Coast, The King’s Head was acknowledged by the awards for serving up hearty meals for both human and hound. They also of course have a full bar for a well deserved drink after conquering Roseberry Topping.
The pub has their very own dog friendly menu which has no doubt been very popular with the four legged population.
Speaking about their award, Nicky Austin, General Manager at The King’s Head said: We have always welcomed dogs at the inn and have pet-friendly bedrooms, bar and garden where dogs can always get a drink, complimentary treat or two and even a meal. We are absolutely delighted with this award – if we had tails we would be wagging them!”
PetsPyjamas Managing Director James Williams also commented: “The canine population has grown massively since the first lockdown, so the hospitality industry has really stepped up their game when it comes to welcoming four-legged friends. With 12 properties to choose, hounds and their humans now have a brilliant bucket list to work through in 2022! We congratulate The King’s Head Inn for their place in the awards.”
