A DORSET business has been ordered to pay several thousand pounds by the courts for offences related to water supply.

Murrill Construction Ltd, of Market Place, Blandford Forum, was prosecuted by Thames Water Utilities Ltd.

At a Poole Magistrates’ Court hearing on March 9, the business pleaded guilty to attaching a pipe without consent of water supply licensee, which is an offence under the Water Industry Act 1991.

An admission was also made in relation to a separate charge of unlawful installation of a water fitting that caused or was likely to cause the erroneous measurement or water supplied by the licensee.

Court papers state both offences took place in Gunnersbury Lane, London, on July 2, 2021.

Magistrates’ fined Murrill Construction Ltd £1,320 and ordered the defendant to pay £2,586 compensation and a £132 surcharge.
