Empowering Women in Business
“Women feel undermined more and are not given as much credit as they deserve,” commented Karren Brady as ambassador for Simply Business.
She said the way to overcome that is to stand up for your colleagues and make sure that people are given the chance to speak or get credit for their ideas.
During the live Q&A session as part of the event, she also talked of the importance of trusting your gut instinct when faced with challenges.
Brady added: “Challenges should make you more empowered, they shouldn’t wear you out.”
‘Reflect on the many things that have gone well’
Brady also offered tips on how to celebrate your successes as a business owner. In her paper diary, she writes down all the important things that happen to her during a year so she can look back and reflect on them later.
“It’s important to reflect on the many things that have gone very well and to be proud of the things you’ve done,” explains Brady.
She added: “Key moments are worth celebrating and key challenges are the things that ultimately make you who you are.”

The power of setting goals and networking

Kanjilal: “It’s so important to have goals in mind. What kind of business do you want to found? Really take some time to think about that. Think about what it is that you want to achieve and map out your goals, whether it’s in a year or five years, or longer.”
“The power of networking is what will make you successful,” she added.
