CONSTRUCTION has begun on a major new business park just off the A127.

Developer Goodman is behind the building of the 124,038 sq ft “high-specification” industrial and logistics facility at East Horndon.

It is being built where the A127 meets the A128 and is just three miles from junction 29 o the M25.

The first phase of the project will a large unit built which will contain both warehousing facilities and offices.

It is hoped it will be finished as early as this September.

Bosses say the vision for the site is to deliver an “attractive, people-focused environment”.

It will include landscaping, high-quality design and staff welfare facilities.

Sustainable features are also being planned, with the entire roof covered with solar panels, while rainwater will also be collected and reused.

Infrastructure for electric vehicles will be made available, further encouraging people using the site to ’go green’.

George Glennie, Development Director at Goodman, said: “With a lack of supply across London and the South East, our investment in Brentwood Commercial Park reflects customers’ rising demand for strategically-located space.

“Designed to offer flexibility and support operational efficiency, the high-specification and sustainable facilities will not only help our customers reach large consumer populations but meet their workforce and employment needs.”

The second phase of the development will see ‘build-to-suit’ opportunities offered to prospective businesses and customers.

Facilities up to 125,000 sq ft are available.
