Man killed after car collides with pedestrian on A189 in Blyth
Officers are appealing for information after a man sadly died following a collision near Blyth in Northumberland.
Shortly before 12.30am on Wednesday, police were called to a collision between a car and a pedestrian on the A189 southbound carriageway under the roundabout with Cowpen Road. The car was travelling in the direction towards Moor Farm roundabout when, for reasons to be established, it collided with a male pedestrian.
Emergency services attended and the male pedestrian aged in his 30s was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by specially-trained family liaison officers. Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the collision and the A189 remains closed in both directions. The closure is expected to remain in place for most of this morning.
